Protecting children has always been a major priority, and it is up to all of us to everything possible to prevent and report child abuse.

Child abuse is a major challenge facing many community institutions including churches, sports programs, and organizations providing a broad range of services to youth. Municipalities are at risk because they are a major source of youth recreation, daycare and other direct service programs.

A new video, “Protecting Children,” is available to be used to educate staff, employees, teachers, volunteers and community members about the importance of taking an active role to protect all children. The video was created to increase awareness about the issue of child abuse, the causes, the devastating effects on children, and to provide information and steps that can be taken to help prevent and report incidents that occur in our communities.

A Model Policy addressing the “Protection and Safe Treatment of Minors” has also been created and is available for download.
